Google Cloud DNS is is a high-performance, resilient, global Domain Name System (DNS) service that publishes your domain names to the global DNS in a cost-effective way.

You must configure cloud connections to monitor this entity. See Configure Google Cloud Platform Connection.

Cisco Cloud Observability displays GCP entities on the Observe page. Metrics are displayed for specific entity instances in the list and detail views.

Detail View

To display the detail view of a Google Cloud DNS instance:

  1. Navigate to the Observe page.
  2. Under Networking & App Delivery, click GCP DNS Managed Zones.
    The list view now displays.
  3. From the list, click a Name to display the detail view.
    The detail view displays metrics, key performance indicators, and properties (attributes) related to the instance you selected.

Cisco Cloud Observability displays the following properties for Google Cloud DNS.

Numeric IDidThe unique identifier for the resource. Defined by the server. Output only.
Namename

The user-assigned name for this resource. The name must:

  • Be unique within the project
  • Be 1-63 characters long
  • Begin with a letter
  • End with a letter or digit
  • Only contain lowercase letters, digits or dashes
DNS NamednsNameThe DNS name of this managed zone; for instance, example.com.
DescriptiondescriptionA mutable string of at most 1,024 characters associated with this resource for the user's convenience. Has no effect on the managed zone's function.
Creation TimecreationTimeThe time that this resource was created on the server. This property is in RFC3339 text format. Output only.
Name Server SetnameServerSetOptionally specifies the nameServerSet for this Managed Zone. A nameServerSet is a set of DNS name servers that all host the same Managed Zones. Most users leave this field unset. If you need to use this field, contact your account team.
VisibilityvisibilityThe zone's visibility. Public zones are exposed to the Internet, while private zones are visible only to Virtual Private Cloud resources.

Provider-The gcp string, hardcoded.
Account ID-The ID of the GCP project.
Platform-The gcp_subscription string, hardcoded.
Region-The global string, hardcoded.

Retention and Purge Time-To-Live (TTL)

For all cloud and infrastructure entities, the retention TTL is 180 minutes (3 hours) and the purge TTL is 525,600 minutes (365 days).
