AppDynamics for Database 2.8 includes the following improvements:
- New database monitoring, MongoDB
- For Oracle databases, click SQL statements to view a new Wait State graph that helps you analyze activities performed during wait periods.
- Collector Configuration change for Oracle database collectors allows you to specify SID or SERVICE_NAME
- Alerts Dashboard improvements that provide at a glance status updates, ability to view breached alerts only, and history charts for each alert.
- Drill down from Transaction Snapshots to the exact SQL that was running is supported for Oracle database collectors and the App Agent for Java. When using the App Agent for Java, from a Transaction Snapshot Flow Map of an App Agent for Java, you can follow the path of a transaction that includes a SQL call to an Oracle database and link to AppDynamics for Databases and view details of SQL that was running during that snapshot.
- Improved NetApp E-Series support, including:
- Real-time performance dashboard on Current window
- Enhanced Activity window displays Volume throughput which permits include/exclude filter in order to define which volumes to choose for the chart
- New Config window displays information about the controllers, volume groups, volumes, and disks within the monitored NetApp E-Series array

New and Enhanced Features in 2.7.2
AppDynamics for Database 2.7.2 includes the following improvements.
- AppDynamics-branded documentation is now included in the installation package.
- The heap size of the Oracle agent has been increased from 128 MB to 256 MB to prevent the agent from crashing with OOM errors when monitoring large Oracle 11g instances.
- The Oracle Collector has been fixed. A feature introduced in AppDynamics for Database version 2.7 for Oracle 11g was previously causing issues with versions of Oracle prior to 10g.
- The PostgreSQL Collector has been fixed. Database ID’s are now longer limited by the size of an integer.
- Minor UI enhancements and bug fixes.

Upgrade Notes
When upgrading, it's best to remove the agents through the Agent Manager and then uninstall the previous release. You can then install the latest version and add the new collectors.

Ongoing Improvements
As AppDynamics for Databases discovers new backends and databases in the AppDynamics Pro environment, a file that provides correlation information between AppDynamics Pro and AppDynamics for Databases may need to be upgraded to ensure optimal performance.
