What is SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring
SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring (formerly known as Datavard Insights) is a performance monitoring tool primarily used for SAP ABAP systems and SAP HANA databases. It extends the AppDynamics for SAP solution with system-level monitoring. While AppDynamics ABAP agent provides transaction-level visibility, SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring collects performance metrics, logs, and events for the overall SAP system, including processes outside of the user business transactions, such as background jobs or IDocs processing.
AppDynamics for SAP installation contains SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring connector, which enables the replication of Monitoring metrics and events to the AppDynamics controller. The installation also includes multiple pre-defined dashboards, which can be exported from the SAP system and imported to the AppDynamics controller.

Architecture
SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring is an ABAP-based solution. It runs directly in the SAP NetWeaver system. The performance data is collected periodically (for example, 1-minute, 5-minute, 1-hour intervals) in the background and is replicated through AppDynamics API to the controller.
The following diagram shows the data flow from Insights to the Controller and Event Service:
- Metrics are reported through the HTTP SDK.
- Custom events are reported through the Machine agent or HTTP SDK. See Application Event API Adapters.
- Events can be also reported to the AppDynamics Event Service, the data is sent directly through REST API. See Analytics API Adapters.
