If you want to initiate an action in case a health rule violates, create the action before you start configuring the health rule. You can then link the action to the health rule when you configure the health rule. See Create HTTP Request Action.

To monitor the health of any entity or a group of entities you need to define health rules. You can create a health rule in two ways:

  • If you have already determined the entity to monitor,
    1. Click Observe > <Entity Type>. 
    2. Click an entity to view the Health Violations pane and Health and Alerting panel.
    3. Click Create Health Rule. The entity type is pre-selected in the Create New Health Rule wizard.
    4. Configure other necessary details to create the health rule. See Configure a Health Rule.
  • If you want to choose an entity to monitor or want to monitor a group of entities,
    1. Click Configure > Health Rules.
    2.  Click Create Health Rule

You can fine-tune a health rule according to historical data to ensure that entity health evaluation is appropriate.

  1. From the Violation Details section, click the health rule.
  2. Edit the configuration as necessary.

  3. Click Save.
