AWS Direct Connect is a networking service that links your internal network to an AWS Direct Connect location over a standard Ethernet fiber-optic cable.

Cisco Cloud Observability supports monitoring the following AWS Direct Connect entities:

  • Direct Connect Connection: A dedicated network connection between your network and one of the AWS Direct Connect locations.
  • Virtual Interface: Enables access to AWS services. A public virtual interface enables access to public services, such as Amazon S3. A private virtual interface enables access to your VPC.

You must configure cloud connections to monitor this entity. See Set up Cisco AppDynamics Cloud Collectors to Monitor AWS.

Cisco Cloud Observability displays AWS entities on the Observe page. Metrics are displayed for specific entity instances in the list and detail views.

Detail View

To display the detail view for an AWS Direct Connect instance:

  1. Navigate to the Observe page.
  2. Under Networking & App Delivery, click AWS Direct Connect.
The Direct Connect tab is selected by default and displays the list view.
  3. From the list, click an instance Name to display the detail view.
The detail view displays the metrics, key performance indicators, and properties (attributes) related to the instance you selected.
  1. Navigate to the Observe page.
  2. Under Networking & App Delivery, click AWS Direct Connect.
  3. Click the Virtual Interface tab to display the list view.
  4. From the list:
    1. Click the row for a virtual instance instance to display the properties panel on the right.
    2. Click a Direct Connect Connection to display the detail view for the related Direct Connect connection. To view the the metrics and key performance indicators for the virtual interface, click Show Interfaces for each metric.
