This page describes the procedure to enable metrics collection for the Native SAP HANA database using SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring.
Create a Secondary Database Connection
SNP CrystalBridge® Monitoring runs on the SAP ABAP system, therefore it needs a secondary database connection to the Native HANA database to collect metrics.
To enable the connection to remote HANA database, maintain a secondary database connection by performing the following steps:
Start the transaction SM30.
Enter DBCON into Table/View field and click the Maintain button.
Click New Entries.
Enter a value in DB Connection field (e.g. NATIVE_HANA) and set DBMS to HDB.
Enter a valid user name and DB password.
The user must have administrator privileges for the monitoring to work correctly. Make sure that this DB user has at least the following authorization roles assigned: AFL_SYS_AFL_ERPA_EXECUTE, DBA_COCKPIT.
Enter hostname and communication port in the Conn. info field as shown below:
Click Save.
Add HANA Database to Monitoring Scope
To add a new HANA database for monitoring:
Start the transaction /DVD/MON.
Click Add system.
From the Select main system type field, select HANA Database.
Enter System name (e.g. HANA_DB) and description.
Enter DB connection maintained in the previous section (e.g. HANA_NATIVE) and press Check DB connection to make sure that the DB connection works correctly.
Press the OK button to add the system.
Start HANA Performance Collectors
To start monitoring the HANA database:
Click Create collector job available in the Collector Jobs tab.
Enter the System ID (e.g. HANA_DB) and select the Monitoring ProfileAPD_HDB1M.
