Microsoft Azure Disk Storage provides high-performance, durable block storage for Azure Virtual Machines.

You must configure cloud connections to monitor this entity. See Configure Azure Cloud Connection.

Cisco Cloud Observability displays Azure entities on the Observe page. Metrics are displayed for specific entity instances in the list and detail views.

Detail View

To display the detail view for an Azure disk instance:

  1. Navigate to the Observe page.
  2. Under Database & Storage, click a Storage group.
    The list view now displays.
  3. Click the Azure tab to display only Azure storage entities.
  4. Click a Disk ID to display the detail view.
    The detail view
displays metrics, key performance indicators, and properties (attributes) related to the instance you selected.

Metrics and Key Performance Indicators

Cisco Cloud Observability displays the following metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for Azure Disk Storage. See Supported metrics with Azure monitor.

Display NameMetric NameDescription
Disk Read/Write (Bytes/Sec)

Disk Read Bytes

The bytes per second read from the disk.

Disk Write Bytes

The bytes per second written to the disk.

Disk Operations (Operations/Sec)

Disk Read Operations

The number of read IOs performed on the disk.

Disk Write Operations

The number of write IOs performed on the disk.

Properties (Attributes)

Cisco Cloud Observability displays the following properties for Azure Disk Storage.

Display NameProperty NameDescription
Cloud Providercloud.providerThe name of the cloud provider of the disk.
Account IDcloud.account.idThe cloud account ID where the resource is assigned.
Locationcloud.regionThe geographical region where the resource is running.
Zonescloud.availability_zoneThe logical zone list for the disk.
Created timecloud.disk.created_atThe time that the disk was created.
Disk IDcloud.disk.idThe GUID of the disk.
Nameazure.disk.nameThe name of the disk.
Network Access Policyazure.disk.network_access_policyThe network access policy of the disk.
Max Sharesazure.disk.max_sharesThe maximum number of VMs that can attach to the disk at the same time. A value > 1 indicates a disk that can be mounted on multiple VMs at the same time.

SKU tierazure.disk.sku.tierThe SKU tier of the disk.
Statecloud.disk.stateThe state of the disk, such as unattached, attached, reserved, etc.
Tierazure.disk.tierThe performance tier of the disk, such as P4 or S10. See Managed Disks pricing. Performance tier does not apply to Ultra disks.
Typecloud.disk.typeThe type of the disk.
Hostshost.idsThe IDs of the VMs that have the disk attached.

Retention and Purge Time-To-Live (TTL)

For all cloud and infrastructure entities, the retention TTL is 180 minutes (3 hours) and the purge TTL is 525,600 minutes (365 days).
