AppDynamics supports three methods to deploy agents in a container environment. These methods depend on:

  • the underlying platform running the containers such as, Kubernetes®, Amazon™ ECS Fargate, Cloud Foundry™, and so on.
  • the preferred workflow based on the support from the underlying platform.

Build-time Injection

This method includes AppDynamics agents as the container builds. This method is preferred for environments like Docker™ Swarm, Amazon ECS, and Azure™ Container Instances. See, Docker

Runtime Injection

This method includes agents when the container is deployed.

Init-time Injection

This method utilizes init container option to copy agent files into a Kubernetes application container at deploy time. See, Inject AppDynamics into Kubernetes Application containers using init containers option.
