End of Life Notice: Perpetual Licenses and Maintenance and Support Licenses

Who is impacted?

All customers currently using AppDynamics software with either of the following license types:

• Perpetual licenses
• Maintenance and Support (M&S) licenses

What is AppDynamics Perpetual License?

In the past, AppDynamics offered its platform under both a subscription and a perpetual license model. The perpetual license model granted customers a perpetual license to the applicable AppDynamics software provided that customers were required to purchase a M&S license with a minimum term of 12 months. 

Over the past few years, AppDynamics has seen the majority of its customers moving to a subscription license model when choosing AppDynamics, with many preferring the lower up-front cost and additional flexibility of subscriptions. 

What is being EOL?

Effective September 1, 2022, new customers will no longer be able to purchase perpetual licenses or M&S licenses for AppDynamics software. Customers with an active perpetual or M&S license at the time of this notice (existing customers) may continue to purchase new perpetual licenses and 12-month term M&S licenses until August 31, 2023. Existing customers with M&S contracts expiring on, or before August 31, 2023, may elect for a one-time extension of the contract for a maximum extended term of 12 months from the date of contract expiry.

Is there a replacement available for AppDynamics Perpetual License and Maintenance and Support License Models?

At expiry of a customer’s M&S contract, existing customers should move to a subscription license. 

Can I continue to purchase additional AppDynamics Perpetual Licenses or Maintenance and Support Licenses?

Existing customers are able to purchase (a) perpetual licenses for AppDynamics software and (b) 12-month term M&S licenses until August 31, 2023. After August 31, 2023, there will be no more sales or extensions. In order to avoid any gaps in your service, please contact customer support or use our support portal to create a transition plan. AppDynamics is committed to helping customers smoothly transition to its subscription license model.

Can I continue to get support for AppDynamics Perpetual Licenses?

AppDynamics will continue to provide support for existing customers with perpetual licenses who have an active M&S license in line with their applicable agreement and ordering documentation.
