Cisco AIOps is an inter-domain solution built on Cisco Observability Platform that provides an end-to-end visualization of the applications and infrastructure along with incident correlation, event monitoring, and actions

Applications are required to run your businesses smoothly. Each business team uses the most suitable infrastructure and application to meet their business goals. Most applications operate in silos, based on the environments and architecture such as, AppOps, SecOps, NetOps, InfraOps, Digital Experience Monitoring, and so on. This creates a very complex environment to monitor the various applications. Any downtime in applications or infrastructure can result in significant business losses. It is challenging to correlate incidents because of large amount of disconnected data and fragmented topology. Sometimes a single incident can cause several alerts from different monitoring applications. Cisco AIOps addresses these issues and reduces the complexity of IT operations by providing a single end-to-end view of the input and output operations. It provides visibility across the operational domains and provides actionable insights to reduce the mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to resolve (MTTR) issues.

Why use Cisco AIOps?

Cisco AIOps provides the following benefits:

  • Unified view across domains for IT transparency:
    • Persona-based dashboards for leadership, ITOps, and DevOps teams. These dashboards provide transparency about the applications and systems through key performance indicators and real time events.
    • A centralized place to draw insights and monitor front-end applications and infrastructure in real time across the organization.
    • Leadership team can observe the availability of the entire IT systems and services based on the existing and past incidents to understand the business impact at the organization level. They can view the health dashboards to know the real time health reports of endpoints and transactions, rolled up to the services and offerings.
    • Service owners and support teams can get a holistic view of devices mapped to the impacted services with end-to-end observability. The dashboards provide details about the upstream and downstream dependencies with topology information.
  • Real time correlation for monitoring critical applications and infrastructure:
    • Event correlation across operational domains that enable support teams to view events related to their services for a specific time period.

    • Business teams can investigate existing issues or identify future performance issues based on correlation of proactive alerts from multiple domains without logging into each domain system separately.
  • Business impact analysis: Correlating issues with business context to better understand the impact of the outages and prioritize incident response and resolution. This also helps in efficient use of the team resources.
  • Faster troubleshooting: Unified monitoring of applications, topology data, and infrastructure reduces the friction between various business teams and helps accelerate MTTD and MTTR issues.

Licensing and Entitlements

This module ingests its own metrics to provide security information and this will consume additional Cisco Observability Platform license units. The size of metrics is based primarily on the number of pods in the Kubernetes cluster with security monitoring and a few other factors. See Cisco Observability Platform License and Entitlements.
