This page describes how to specify a custom JRE location for the Machine Agent on Windows for users who have an existing Windows service.

  1. Set up an environment variable named APPD_MACHINE_AGENT_JRE_HOME and set its value to the JRE home folder.
  2. Uninstall the existing Windows service for the Machine Agent. See Uninstall the Machine Agent.
  3. Unzip the development build.
  4. Reinstall the Windows service for the Machine Agent. See Windows Install Using ZIP with Bundled JRE. When the service restarts, it should pick up the specified JRE.
  5. If the environment variable is changed again, restart the service. See step 6 on Windows Install Using ZIP with Bundled JRE.
