Supported Environments and Versions

Before you install the AppDynamics mobile app, make sure your mobile phone and the Controller have the supported environment and version.

Support Environments

AppDynamics requires:

  • Controller >= 21.6

  • iPhone: iOS >=12.0

  • Android >= 8.0 (Oreo)

Determine Your Controller Version

You can retrieve the version number from the command line of the Controller machine by accessing the README.txt file located in the Controller home directory or from the AppDynamics UI.

  1. From the AppDynamics dashboard, click Settings.

  2. Select About AppDynamics

  3. Note the AppDynamics Controller build number.

Install AppDynamics

AppDynamics supports both iOS and Android mobile phones. You can install the AppDynamics mobile app on a mobile phone by scanning a quick response (QR) code. Scanning the QR code using the phone camera navigates you to the App Store (for Apple) or Google Play (for Android) to locate and download the app.

  1. Open the camera app on your mobile phone.
  2. Center this QR code inside the frame on your camera screen:

  3. Follow the instructions on your mobile phone.

Sign In and Configure Your Account

You can select one of several easy methods to sign in to your AppDynamics account. Using the QR code is the easiest method because scanning the QR code also helps you to configure your account. If your account supports SAML authentication, you can also use the Sign in with SSO button to sign in.

Sign In and Configure with QR Code

AppDynamics provides a short cut to configuring your accounts by allowing you to scan the QR code that is on the Controller. To use this short cut, you must have access to the Controller.

To sign in and configure your account by scanning the QR code:

  1. On the Sign in to your account screen, tap Scan QR code, or tap How to find your QR code for instructions and swipe up to read them.
  2.  When prompted, grant AppDynamics camera access.
  3. Center the QR code that is on the Controller UI inside the frame on your camera screen. Once properly centered, the QR code automatically launches the program to configure your account.

Sign In and Configure with the Controller URL

To sign in and configure your account without a QR code, you can use the Controller URL.

To sign in with a URL:

  1. Enter the URL and press the return key. If the Controller does not support HTTPS, deselect Use HTTPS.
  2. Tap Next.
  3. Enter the account name and tap Next.
  4. Enter your username and password.
  5. Review the AppDynamics EULAPrivacy Policy, and Terms of Use, and then tap the checkbox to agree to them.
  6. Optionally, tap the switch to save your password.
